Her Royal Highness's Traditional Yuletide Carol Concert Honours Community Volunteers

The Princess of Wales is hosting her yearly Yuletide celebration at the iconic London venue, with a congregation comprising royals, celebrities and local heroes who have made a difference in their neighbourhoods.

The large audience will listen to a blend of carols, music and readings from stars like Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Centred Around Compassion and Love

The central message of the concert, held in the glowing Westminster Abbey on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

Among the guests will be Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose young girl was lost to a brain tumour, and who established a foundation, a support fund, to aid parents with a child with a terminal illness.

"The dedication, empathy, and kindness you show, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any expectation or recognition, make an remarkable change to the well-being of people," Her Royal Highness stated in a note prior to the concert.

A Steady Comeback

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own steady comeback to official duties after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, last month delivering her first public speech for two years, in which she talked about recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Musical Talent and Access

Guests arriving at the Abbey will enjoy performances from talented youth performers supported by the charitable trust Future Talent, set up with the help of the late Duchess of Kent to increase availability of instrumental training.

Carys Wood, aged 18, who is a trumpet player and is from southwest Wales, has been assisted by the trust, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "incredible" to be taking part in the evening's event.

"Pursuing music is often costly," she stated. She is now enrolled at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to cultivate their performance abilities.

A Sisterly Duo

Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who performs on the brass instrument, will be present at the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Among the guests will be individuals spanning multiple eras.

That will include young Saphia Turner, nine, winner of a prize for youthful altruism, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to collect donations for community pantries.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been festooned with specially made wreaths, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

The musical lineup includes recording artist Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "the icing on the cake for us."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be aired by ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
